FASHION WITH

T-IDENTITY

T-identity emphasizes creating a team and safe space for beautiful, inclusive projects. This initiative focuses on fashion and the well-being and respectful treatment of everyone involved. For me, fashion is about the feelings it evokes and the people it includes, not just showmanship. Our models are much more than mannequins for clothes.

As a trans model with two years in the fashion industry, I've seen models treated merely as mannequins, their feelings, existence, and comfort overlooked.

This issue is significant for trans models. My uncomfortable experiences, along with others' stories, inspired me to create the environment I wished I had encountered. I aimed to assemble a team of kind, sensitive, and empathetic individuals to highlight the beauty and femininity of the models, making them feel empowered, beautiful, and safe. The models I selected inspire me with their beauty and strength. These women come from diverse backgrounds, mirroring my experiences as a person of color. For example, Marayah shared: "When it is said that people can make a difference, it’s true! And you proved it with your team. Life as a model is as beautiful as it is penalizing... we are often used as garment objects without taking into account that you have a person in front of us."

Alvar added: "Participating in the set was a stimulating experience for me. For the first time during a shooting, I felt truly appreciated for who I am. All the people conveyed a sense of care and respect, allowing each of us to express ourselves naturally. I felt love around me and free to express myself, feeling confident with my body." Galilea noted that this was her first shoot organised by trans people with the whole cast of trans girls. Especially when in the world and Europe becoming increasingly conservative and less tolerant of queer individuals, having a place that emphasises representation and inclusion was something she felt truly good about.

Despite my love for being in front of the camera, I often didn't feel represented or comfortable. This project helped me rediscover my passion and ensure models felt authentic. Seeing these women on set reignited my love for modeling and it made me feel even more beautiful and at peace in my heart when I saw them felling truly happy.

A persistent issue is limited clothing sizes, making it challenging to dress different body types. Addressing this is a priority for my upcoming projects, ensuring fashion is inclusive and accessible.

Compassion and understanding were my main goals. Having trans and queer people and women involved in a shoot dedicated to trans individuals is important but rare in an industry where decision-makers assume what people want. By shifting from "making people want things" to "making things people want," we can create a more inclusive and respectful fashion industry.

T Identity is more than a fashion project—it's a movement towards inclusivity, respect, and empowerment. By highlighting the unique beauty and strength of our models, we aim to create a space where everyone feels valued and represented. Fashion should celebrate our diversity and make us feel good about ourselves. This project is a step towards that vision, and I am grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey.
